From Denny: A week old African elephant is waiting for the Vienna, Austria public to name him. And he sure has some really big ears - which may end up his name! All the name choices are African names and some translate into Leader (Shamre), Thunder (Radi) and, of course, Big Ears (Taluba).
He was born on 6 August and weighs in at 246 pounds already. Want to vote on his new name? Go here. Voting results will be published on Sunday, 15 August. Right now it looks like Big Ears is by far the winner. This elephant is the 3rd birth of an African Elephant in the Vienna Zoo.
The above photo is not of this new elephant but it was so cute I just had to put it up. This little guy is an Asian elephant, not an African elephant like Big Ears.
